For my sanity:

Foyer is pronounced "FOY-ay". There is no other correct way to pronounce it, unless you are actually de langue francais, in which case it is more like "fwaje".

I haven't heard that one! But I have honestly only ever heard 'foy-er' on TV, so I guess my region has generally good French loan-word pronunciation.
