My mom just got back from seeing Avatar and got set to tell me how amazing it was and I just threw out the whole "you know it's a racist colonialist piece of patronizing white-guy-saves-the-day, right?" And then she made me feel really, really bad for "crapping on her experience." Um. ??? I'm sorry I wasn't super supportive of your movie-going enjoyment?

I hope that shit doesn't win the Best Picture Oscar. Not that I'm a big Academy Awards believer, but still. Pocahontas With Blue Cat People shouldn't get more recognition.
