I have become a strongly-worded letter-writer D:
Dear MACLEAN'S Magazine:
As I am sure you are aware, your Oct. 19th issue contained
69 pages of content, including the cover, filler such as full-
page article titles and photos, as well as content pages that
were in some cases dominated by nearly full-page ads. It
also contained 66 total full-page ads, not including the 11
content pages that also contained ads. 18 leaves of the
issue were double-sided ads, and the centerfold, if you will,
was ten uninterupted pages of ads. Even the front cover had
an advertisement on it.
I understand that this issue contained an article about
Canada's top 100 employers, but I would much rather be
able to find the article easily among your content than sift
through page after page of advertisements to find a content
page with a page number on it. As well, the fact that the
"top 100 employers" had presumably paid-for ads in your
magazine makes me wonder if they truly are the top 100 or
just the first 100 to give you money.
Do better.
